|Abstract:||In this talk, Dr Steve Wright discusses some of the tools and methods used for performing Hardware-in-the-Loop testing of aircraft avionics. The talk will discuss the objectives of avionics test, how these tests are performed, and the equipment needed to create environments to allow testing to be performed.
|Biography||Dr Steve Wright was diverted from his natural calling as a farm labourer to become a Senior Lecturer at the University of the West of England after 25 years as a software, electronics and systems engineer at Rolls-Royce, ST Microelectronics, and then Airbus. During his career, he has contributed to aircraft including the Airbus A320, A330, A340, A380, A400M, A350, and Boeing 747, 757, 767, and 777. He developed hardware and software for embedded test equipment and Hardware-in-Loop System Integration Laboratories for Engine, Fuel and Landing Gear control avionics. He contributed to the design of the A380’s “Integrated Modular Avionics” architecture and research projects into the application of Formal Methods to avionics development. His doctorate investigated the application of modern Formal Methods to microprocessor Instruction Set Architectures, and he now lectures and conducts research into Avionics and Aircraft Systems.|
