Bristol, UK, 14 August 2014 – TVS, a leader in software test and hardware verification solutions, today announced a strategic expansion in its services with the addition of a new application security business arm. asureSECURE™ will provide consultancy, coaching and testing services that address the need for developing security aware applications that are self-protecting against cyber-attacks when the network boundary is breached.
asureSECURE will be led by security expert Declan O’Riordan who recently joined TVS leadership team as head of security testing and brings a wealth of experience implementing application security solutions to the company. Declan will work directly with customers and will be responsible for expanding the team of security consultants, coaches and assertive testers.
In 2013, $46 billion* was spent on cyber security yet there were 20% more breaches and the average cost of a breach increased by 30%. In addition, 84% of attacks targeted the applications, which means the security battle can be lost if the perimeter is breached and applications are not designed, coded, and tested to defend themselves.
“TVS asureSECURE solutions leverage our core software testing expertise to help organisations develop strategies to secure network infrastructure, system software and client and server side applications,” said Mike Bartley, TVS founder and CEO. “Declan’s decades of experience implementing and coaching on application security will help our customers reduce the risks of application attack. His vision and experience will help us continue to execute our growth plans.”
“Security is now a major factor in application development and TVS’ consultancy, coaching and test services focus on the complete life-cycle of a project to help our customers save time and money and help them meet stringent application level security requirements,” said Declan O’Riordan, head of security testing at TVS. “Conventional security investments concentrate on perimeter defences such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, but this network-biased approach is now vulnerable as malicious attackers can outwit and breach perimeter defences to target the applications themselves.”
“Security should be built-in and not added. Companies that don’t take heed and implement security early in the design cycle will be at risk from cyber attacks,”concluded Mike Bartley, TVS founder and CEO.
As part of the asureSECURE security services launch TVS has published two white papers that set out good practice for avoiding security vulnerabilities on any web application project and has organised an event on security and assertive testing:
