Geoffrey James, writing in Chipdesignmag, argues that the EDA market is struggling to solve new verification challenges. He suggests that as the industry moves to ESL and high level synthesis, and as software is now a standard part of the SoC delivery, new software methodologies and tools are required. However, Geoffrey suggests the traditional model of small start-ups developing innovative solutions that get bought by large EDA companies is now financially broken.

However, TVS does still see innovation in the verification space. TVS recently introduced a free UVM SystemC and partner with a number of innovative verification companies such as OneSpin, Breker, and Solvertec.
