Bristol, England – 31st October 2011: T&VS today announces the opening of offices in Chennai, India providing hardware verification services to the semi-conductor research and development industry.  The office will serve clients in UK, Europe, North America, Japan and India. Initially ten staff will provide verification services including;

  • VIP Development: OVM and UVM Compliant SystemVerilog and e-based VIP
  • FPGA Prototyping: ASIC/SOC Logic Prototyping in FPGA, ASIC to FPGA Conversion and High Speed FPGA Designs for FMC/AMC Cards
  • Expert verification services on-site at Indian customers

The VIP development will enable T&VS to expand further it’s existing range of OVM VIPs which includes SDCARD 2.0, GPIO, I2C, SPI etc. as part of their asureVIP™ portfolio. Dr. Mike Bartley, T&VS CEO comments, “our clients are increasingly asking for timely access to skilled engineering personnel.  This combined with market pressures to keep development costs to a minimum means that an off-shore project team is an attractive solution.  T&VS is now better placed to deliver both completed bespoke projects and expert personnel resources.” Dr. Bartley has written extensively on the opportunities and challenges associated with outsourcing and off-shore development. T&VS has provided access to testing and verification services from India since 2008. In late 2010 T&VS formed a partnership with Embitel Technologies based in Bangalore to provide embedded software development and testing services.  The opening of Chennai offices complements this existing capability and enhances the services the company can offer from India.  Utilising the low cost and growing skills base in India is becoming an increasing factor for organisations in mature territories, but the cultural differences make this a challenging exercise for all companies.  T&VS ensures that the correct operating environment is established and will project management the adoption of an Indian based engineering team. The new offices in Chennai have capacity for up to twenty engineers, it is expected that the office will reach this capacity in Q1 2012 and then move to new premises. T&VS also expects to open a larger facility in Bangalore in 2012.
